NO. 500: TWITTERVIEW WITH LANCE GODARD OF 22 TWEETS.

Welcome to a “twitterview” (interview conducted live on Twitter) featuring Lance Godard, host of the blog 22 Tweets (@22Twts). Mr. Godard was interviewed by Cliff Tuttle of Pittsburgh Legal Back Talk (PittsburghLegal)
on August 24, 2010 to celebrate its 500th post.

499: PLBT Celebrates its 500th Post by Interviewing Lance Godard, host of 22 Tweets!

I wanted to do something unique and memorable for post number 500, which is coming up next. So, I asked Lance Godard, who interviews lawyers who tweet on one of my favorite websites, 22 Tweets, for an interview. That is, me interviewing him on my blog, Pittsburgh Legal Back Talk.

498: Twice Told Tales.

From Russia, but Without Love.

Incidentally. If you would like to have your comment appear on this blog, don’t just say that you loved the post or read the blog all of the time. Don’t tell me that you are going to put it in your Google Reader or however you get your RSS. Yes, I appreciate comments like that from a sincere reader. But other readers don’t. If you want to see your comment posted, you must tell me more. What do you think about the topic discussed? What else would you like to know? Give me something that readers would like to see. I don’t care if you disagree. I’m a lawyer, we like a good debate.

Back Talk Requested: What Should PLBT Be Covering?

Since it is almost the blog’s first anniversary, it seems like a good time to ask readers what they like, don’t like or would like to see in the coming year.

A Fair Trial for Poplawski. Back Talk Requested.

Others may say that the unique circumstances of the crimes, the massive publicity and the outpouring of sympathy for the three officers and their families will make it impossible for a fair trial to happen anywhere at any any time. This assumes that individual jurors cannot overcome exposure to publicity in such an emotionally charged case. This is a question every potential juror must answer for himself or herself. Could you render a verdict in such a case without being influenced by these factors? Would you be afraid of the consequences of voting for acquittal if you thought the evidence for conviction did not sufficient, beyond a reasonable doubt?

Back Talk Requested.

Pittsburgh Tea Party Draws a Respectable Crowd. What Next?

What it signified was that there is a substantial and vocal opposition to TARP and other rescue/stimulus programs that was evident in polls but has been slow to get organized. This may be just a blow-off-steam media event or the first step in a political movement to take back the Congress and the White House. The next test will be whether leaders emerge.

Back Talk Requested: Google Books a Monopoly? Perhaps, but where’s the Harm?

Google’s “Project Gutenberg” is intended to save billions of publications in libraries and other collections from being lost and to make them available at a mouse click to a world-wide readership. This is a laudable goal, perhaps one worthy of public appreciation on the level of the Nobel Peace Prize. Nevertheless, some observers see a threat to the public good in Google acquiring the rights to so many publications. They make dire predictions of a knowledge monopoly. But Google responds that others can do the same thing it has done — copy books, wait to be sued and then settle.

Backtalk Requested: Bonusteria.

So, answer a few simple questions:
1. How did the AIG employees who earned bonuses qualify for them?
2. What benefit did AIG derive from the efforts that earned the bonuses?
3. Are the people who received the bonuses earning more money for AIG than the value of the bonuses? How much more or less?
4. Can AIG find people to replace the bonus-earners who will make as much or more money for AIG without being paid a bonus?

What? Not a clue?

Then why are you so outraged?

Back Talk Requested: Guantanamo — Rhymes with Geronimo.

So, why not (as Conressman Murtha suggests) support the local economy by inviting a few long term guests to inhabit our region? If one of them did escape, it is pretty likely he would had for the border — not stick around to commit acts of terrorism. So what’s the big deal? What am I missing here? Back Talk Requested.
